The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) hosted the 2008 World Fertilizer Conference in Seattle, Wash. More than 800 world industry leaders and decision makers from over 50 countries traveled to Seattle to conduct business meetings and attend conference sessions.

The Fertilizer Marketing Business Meeting is held in February each year. The conference attracts more than 600 delegates from North America and the world. The 2008 Fertilizer Marketing Business Meeting was held Feb. 4-7 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla.
The Nutrients for Life Foundation fundraising golf tournament was held Feb. 4 in conjunction with TFI's Fertilizer Marketing Business Meeting.
Sept. 17-19, 2007
TFI held its 2007 World Fertilizer Conference in Boston, Mass., Sept. 17-19, gathering more than 700 delegates from more than 50 different countries. At the meeting, delegates heard from top-notch speakers on issues of critical importance to the industry. Professor Jeffrey Sachs, widely considered to be the leading international economic advisor of his generation, was the keynote speaker at Tuesday’s breakfast session, where he discussed the fertilizer industry’s important role at the intersection of the challenge of increased food production; the fight against extreme poverty; energy use and energy security; biodiversity threats and conservation; and climate change. On Wednesday morning, Dr. Elisio Contini, director for Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation’s Office of International Affairs, addressed the challenges of global renewable fuels production.

The Fertilizer Institute held HarvestFest 2007 on Oct. 17 reminding Congress of fertilizer’s contributions to the bounty of food grown in the United States. More than 300 representatives of Capitol Hill offices and regulatory agencies attended the event including Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) and Reps. Jim Costa (D-Calif.); Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.); Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.); Steve King (R-Iowa); Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.); Adrian Smith (R-Neb.); Tim Walberg (R-Mich.).
