WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) honored five American farmers and their fertilizer retail partners last week at the 2016 Commodity Classic in New Orleans, La. These 2016 4R Grower Advocates are dedicated to the 4Rs of nutrient stewardship: using the right nutrient source at the right rate, the right time, and in the right place. These practices help increase yields, improve soils, and enhance ecosystems.

Washington, D.C.  - The lawsuit filed by the Des Moines Water Works today against the governing authorities for 10 of the state’s drainage districts is unfortunate and will divert resources that could help fund a real solution to Des Moines’ water quality issue. We are reviewing the brief filed with the Court, and will work with the rest of the agriculture community to fully respond to this litigation.

They use proven management practices that focus on improving soil quality and maintaining a quality natural environment. In fact, getting the right nutrients to where they belong and in the right amounts when they’re needed enables them to improve yields while protecting soil and water.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 9, 2014) – A potentially record-setting U.S. corn harvest is underway. Many farmers can attribute the use of cover crops as one of multiple best management practices (BMPs) that help them increase yield year after year. Combined with BMPs of The Fertilizer Institute’s 4R Nutrient Stewardship program that promotes the application of nutrients at the right source, right rate, right time and right place, farmers further ensure top production.
