WASHINGTON, June 28, 2017 – “We applaud the Trump Administration for its decision to rescind and re-write the “Waters of the U.S,” (WOTUS) rule. This action gives the federal government time to shape a sustainable national water policy that protects the environment, facilitates economic development and contributes to society at large.

The Clean Water Act (CWA) statute influences many aspects of federal permitting, including industrial discharges to waters, the scope of federal Endangered Species Act review, and the extent of mitigation under the Army Corps’ wetlands permits.

This action is a big step forward. Farmers who are continuously improving their environmental and economic performance using the 4R nutrient stewardship framework are already bringing about meaningful change. This science-based system, not the iron hand of regulation is the clearest and quickest path to success.”
