WASHINGTON, April 4, 2018 – Registration is now open for the 4R Summit, which will be held June 11-12 at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. As the 4R Nutrient Stewardship program continues to grow, the Summit provides opportunities to learn more about the 4Rs and hear how stakeholders across the country are implementing the 4R principles.
Attendees will hear from speakers about in-field implementation of the 4R principles, agribusiness involvement, government- and non-governmental organization-supported initiatives, and details on projects funded through the 4R Research Fund. The agenda will feature concurrent breakout sessions, offering participants a choice of speakers and topics.
Conference registration and hotel information is available on The Fertilizer Institute website.
The Iowa location will give attendees the opportunity to hear about efforts in the state from the Iowa Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness Association of Iowa, Iowa Corn Growers, among others. The agenda will also include a session on implementing conservation practices into a 4R management plan. Attendees will also get to experience the beautiful World Food Prize Hall of Laureates during a special evening reception.
Fertilizer is a component of sustainable crop production systems, and the fertilizer industry recognizes the need to efficiently utilize these nutrients. The 4R philosophy is an innovative and science-based approach that offers enhanced environmental protection, increased production, increased farmer profitability, and improved sustainability. The concept is to use the right fertilizer source, at the right rate, at the right time, with the right placement.
To help address this challenge, TFI works with the International Plant Nutrition Institute, the International Fertilizer Industry Association, and the Fertilizer Canada to advance the 4R nutrient stewardship initiative.
