TFI to Celebrate Global Fertilizer Day on October 13
WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2018 – The Fertilizer Institute will celebrate Global Fertilizer Day on October 13 by championing the men and women who work in the fertilizer industry to ensure the nation’s farmers can continue feeding the globe.
“We live in a fast-paced, crazy world sometimes, where the news of the day can seem daunting,” said Chris Jahn, TFI President. “But our industry can take pride in its work to serve the greater good, and there’s a lot to be hopeful about in that mission.”
This year, TFI is premiering a new video, “You Taught Me Hope,” which highlights America's hardworking farmers who work tirelessly to care for the land and feed our nation.
Additionally, TFI is sponsoring a photo contest. Submissions should focus on fertilizer industry employees taking pride in their work. Entries are due by the end of the day October 31 and should be tagged on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter using #TFIFertilizerDay. One winner will be chosen and will receive a YETI cooler.
Our growing global population depends on responsible agricultural practices to provide a steady supply of food. Modern fertilizer techniques are an essential part of this sustainable future, and TFI is invested in promoting best practices to help farmers improve their productivity and food nutrition.
Through innovative, science-based programs, like 4R Nutrient Stewardship, farmers can use fertilizer best management practices that offer enhanced environmental protection, increased production, increased farmer profitability, and improved sustainability.
The concept is to use the right fertilizer source, at the right rate, at the right time, and in the right place. When the 4Rs are put into practice, growers are able to achieve higher yields, lower input costs, and less nutrient losses to the environment.
