2017 4R Advocates, Joe Huebner, CHS, and Kyle Brase, Brase Farms, briefed members of the Congressional Fertilizer Caucus and other Congressional staff on 4R Nutrient Stewardship.

The event was attended by more than 65 staff members. Huebner and Brase were welcomed by Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.), a third-generation farmer who served as the director of Washington state’s Department of Agriculture prior to being elected to Congress in 2014.

The presentation entitled, “How Technology and 4R Nutrient Stewardship Lead to Profitability, Sustainability for Farmers,” provided an opportunity to showcase the important role that agricultural retailers play in working with their grower customers to develop and implement 4R nutrient management plans. Kyle and Joe also highlighted the relationship of 4R practices to programs in the conservation and research titles of the Farm Bill, which is up for reauthorization in 2018.

TFI would like to extend a sincere thanks to Joe and Kyle for taking the time to participate in the briefing and grow the voice of fertilizer in Washington, D.C.
