Eric co-owns Roots Run Deep Farm with his sister Lori Sandin. The family farm is located in Piatt County, Illinois and grows corn, soybean, wheat, double-crop soybean, and cover crops.
Illinois Nutrient Research and Education Council (NREC) funded research projects have been conducted on-site by the University of Illinois since 2015. Additional product testing for private companies began in 2021. Research and product testing includes both field-scale and small plot trials.
Eric is a board member of the Piatt County Soil and Water Conservation District, and a past board member of the Piatt County Farm Bureau. He is a farmer advisor on the Saving Tomorrow’s Agriculture Resources (S.T.A.R.) Science Review Committee. In 2023, Eric was the recipient of the “Glen Brandt Prize for Ag Entrepreneurism” as acknowledgement of his commitment to ag research.
