Webinar: USDA Prospective Plantings Report

USDA’s annual Prospective Plantings report will be released on March 28, giving the first look at the 2024 planting intentions farmers have for principal crops in 2024. At the 2024 Agricultural Outlook Forum in February, USDA estimated farmers change significantly from last year, with 91 million acres of corn, down 4% from 2023; 87.5 million acres of soybeans, up 5% from 2023; 47 million acres of wheat, down 5% from 2023; and 10.85 million acres of cotton, up 7% from 2023. With significant and rapid commodity price changes over the last several months, this farmer survey gives important insight into what the spring planting mix might actually look like.
